Expert chambers
Joint notice on your data
This notice tells you what happens to the information you give when you register with the IFEM expert chambers, online or on WhatsApp. It is shared by Institut Francophone d’Économie Maritime (IFEM) and Certifive, which keeps the chambers’ register for IFEM.
Who does what
- IFEM decides on your admission, runs the chamber and writes to you in its own name: meeting notices, information, offers of its own training, events and services.
- Certifive keeps the register, records your consents, offers you an interview if you are admitted, then builds and validates your profile with you.
- Both act together for the register and are jointly responsible for it. How they share this is set by an annex to their agreement.
What is collected
Your identity, position and organisation, your country and city, your experience, areas and background, your LinkedIn profile if you give it, your e-mail address, WhatsApp number and language, your CV if you attach it, your choice about chamber information and your consents, with their date and version.
Who has access
- IFEM: its presidency, the people it authorises and the head of your chamber. The list of members and their contact details is reserved for them; no other member sees it. IFEM never passes it on to a third party nor solicits you for a third party.
- Certifive, for the register and, once you accept the interview, for your profile.
- The public sees only what you agree to show on the chamber’s page, after your profile is validated.
- Certifive’s technical providers (hosting, e-mail, WhatsApp messaging), bound by contract and confidentiality.
Your consents
Each consent is optional, separate from the others, and can be withdrawn in one step from your consents page. Without any consent, your application is still forwarded. Withdrawal applies from then on; a register export already made by IFEM bears its date, and IFEM replaces or deletes it after your withdrawal.
How long
Retention periods, including for an application that is not accepted and for the data of a member who has left, are set by the annex to the agreement between IFEM and Certifive. A period may be extended only to keep evidence or defend a legal claim, with restricted access.
Where your data goes
Your data moves between the countries where IFEM and Certifive operate, in Africa and Europe, and to providers established in the European Union or the United States. Each transfer relies on the safeguard required by the applicable law, in particular the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and the formalities with the authorities of Côte d’Ivoire (ARTCI) and Senegal (CDP).
Your rights
You may access your data, have it corrected or erased, object to processing, ask for restriction or portability, and withdraw your consents at any time. Write to IFEM (chambres@ifemglobal.org) or to Certifive (contact@certifive.co): the request is handled by whoever receives it, with the other if needed. You may also complain to the data protection authority of your country: the CNIL in France, ARTCI in Côte d’Ivoire, the CDP in Senegal.
The WhatsApp assistant
On WhatsApp, your application is taken by an automated assistant, run by Certifive for IFEM. It says so and tells you, before any question, who receives your information. The interview itself is conducted by a member of the Certifive team.
